Mohamed Azad Bin Noor Azman, 30
Azad is from Sepang, Selangor, and currently works as a Reservoir Geologist for PETRONAS.
What made you interested in joining the National Unity Youth Fellowship?
"I've been quite active in social activism since my university days back in Cardiff University, UK. Most of it mainly involved pursuing causes related to education and social welfare, with a little bit of politics sprinkled around here and there. I have been fortunate to meet and work with many great individuals along the way, and I do still keep in touch with them until now.
I have been quite focused on my work since I joined PETRONAS in 2010, and I enjoy the daily intellectual challenge of my work there. However, the National Unity Youth Fellowship opened up an opportunity for me to reconnect with my passion for social activism and continue the intellectual journey for a greater cause, and that caught my attention, so I decided to apply for the program."
What do you hope to learn or achieve from your experience with the Fellowship?
"Since we first met at the Institut Integriti Malaysia in February, I have been very impressed by the experience that each and every Fellow brings with them. They are youthful, bright, fresh, and some are rather ambitious, and this is the kind of people I like to hang out with; as they say, 'birds of a feather flock together'.
I look forward to learning from the Fellows, as well as from the people that the Fellows are expected to meet. I am also keen to share my thoughts with them on the issue of national unity and other related concerns."
